The Cost of Being A Flapper

the cost of being a flapper

I knew that the flappers of the 1920s were serious about their style, but I had no idea how much money they were willing to fork over to achieve it. This outfit costs $346.50, which is way more than what I would have guessed. (Everything is pretty reasonable till you get to the coat.) That’s about the same price as it costs “to equip completely a reasonably well furnished three-bedroom flat” in the 1920s.

It equals about $3,500 in today’s money. Wowza.
