Prisons used to rely on written descriptions to capture repeat offenders, but the Bedford Prison in the UK decided to try out photographs to help them capture habitual criminals.
Pictured is George Bennett (aka Henry Simpson) who was convicted of poaching and assaulting a police officer in 1860. His criminal record states he’s missing a little finger; he “wears a truss,” which is like a girdle for bracing a hernia; and he’s a butcher by trade.
He’s a little Christian Bale-ish, no?
